During the transition period, it will be critical to carry out testing, technology improvements, development of new standards and regulations, and information sharing between projects to ensure that the benefits we envision from the smart grid become a reality. The digitalization, decentralization, electrification, and renewable energy technologies of the smart grid have become challenging issues.\u00a0The Special Issue invites original research papers to address new applications of energy conversion technologies and operation algorithms for smart grid which enable it to be used for realistic and practical existing power industry applications.
