{"id":1678,"date":"2020-11-07T10:52:32","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T09:52:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.netscientificjournals.com\/smart-platform\/?post_type=call_for_papers&#038;p=1678"},"modified":"2021-01-15T14:51:22","modified_gmt":"2021-01-15T13:51:22","slug":"smart-technologies-management-and-control-for-energy-systems-and-networks","status":"publish","type":"call_for_papers","link":"https:\/\/www.netscientificjournals.com\/smart-platform\/?call_for_papers=smart-technologies-management-and-control-for-energy-systems-and-networks","title":{"rendered":"Smart Technologies, Management and Control for Energy Systems and Networks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In recent decades, an ever-growing concern about energy transition has fostered a massive use of renewable energy systems, provided the electrification of conventional means of transportation, and enhanced the use of energy storage from residential to industrial, tertiary, and utility level applications.\u00a0Furthermore, novel technologies and techniques, from ICT to AI, together with the large-scale adoption of distributed energy systems, sector coupling, and demand flexibility, have enabled a new realm of possibilities for the management and control of networks.\u00a0This Special Issue will focus on the key technologies enabling energy transition in future multi-energy systems and networks. In particular, the ever-growing importance of exploiting synergies between different energy networks, namely electric, natural gas, district heating and cooling, and, to a wider extent, other \u201cnetworks\u201d such as E-mobility and water is becoming widely recognized. When dealing with multi-energy systems, a holistic approach should be used. Technologies enabling interactions between networks (polygeneration, heat pumps, etc.), optimal management and control strategies, energy storages (EES, TES, power-to-X,), and ICT tools will play a pivotal role to fully exploit the potential flexibility required when increasing the share of energy production from non-programmable renewables sources.
